Heading into the postseason, what's your take?
Duke is a serious Final Four contender
We just may have kept the Duke Foot Injury from ending our season for the third straight year
Miami is really backing into the tournament phase
So much for those little Tools and their VAUNTED twelve-guard lineup, at least until next Saturday
Still not going to miss Maryland, College Park at all
Just enjoying the ride
I have some gripe or other but will hold it for now

Duke Basketball
Posted By: Matt (happy, proud of the guys)

Discuss here.  Where should Duke be seeded?  Once we get the seed - - good draw, bad draw, indifferent?

Anyone else a little nervous about a potential 2nd round matchup with Texas? A 3 pt. shooter that can get hot and some rough and tumble types down low aren't exactly what I like seeing Duke play against.

I agree with the Pitt sentiment. Sure, we've got nobody that can check Blair, but that's true of every team we've played with a decent big man. Honestly, I might try to go small against them for a time and try to get him matched up on Singler and get him in foul trouble.

Way to go pick up 3 wins this weekend in impressive fashion. By the way, I don't spend enough time here (definition of "enough" someone?) but speaking of Scheyer, whatever happened to the "I heart Jon Scheyer" gal who was around so much last season? She must be very pleased with his tourney.

bilas was too much last night. the way he and that ass, digger, talked down to vitale at the beginning of the show was out of hand.

also, i loved the way he looked at the draw and the one thing to stand out to our beloved jay? ALL the possible ways duke can lose....too much.

are there hard feelings with the way he left duke as an assistant coach? what else can explain his shill-like ways?

Yeah, I don't quite get why Pitt would be so heavily favored against us. The game early last season, Blair dominated (rebounding was a big factor), Fields was great, but we shot the three terribly, and they still needed a last-second three to beat us in OT. Arguably both teams are better, but we're a lot better. Would love to see that game, as we'd be back to the Elite 8, but first things first.

Anyone going to pick LSU to take out UNC if Lawson doesn't play or is ineffective?

so i'm not the only one who notices a certain coiffure resemblance between coach legoman and gov. payola.

My bads -- I meant "Nolan or Elliott" and "lchances" are "looks" that didn't quite get changed to "chances". I also forgot to give props to Dave for his great late-season lift after that bad NYC hot dog or whatever , to Brian for 6 boards in 9 minutes today and to Greg for being such a great teammate.

Yeah, Seth Davis, Jamie Dixon is really salivating at the prospect of having to stop our Big Three.

Oh, and thanks to Dino Blagojevich for putting Sweaty in the field of 65. Gary, everyone on this site was really pulling for you and Dirty Dave to get in and besmirch the ACC's record with an early exit.

First, let's have a moment of silence for the departed Silly Pecker. He was such an omniscient guru that he always knew which regional was the easiest (Duke's) and which was the hardest (Tools') even before he had time to look at the brackets.

Dear Shilas, Duke doesn't have to be concerned with matchups. With Nolan BACK, we present more matchup problems for just about anyone than they do for us. Pitt will be a handful if we meet them, but we can handle them or anyone else if our shots are falling. The evidence from the last 60 minutes is that our guys are finding their range at just the right time.

Awesome ACCT for Jon. The simplistic (i.e., broadcast mediots) will look at his assists but he is not supposed to be a pure point guard. This is a motion offense team with the other guys on the rim looking to make plays and doing so. Having either Nolan and Elliott on the floor with Kyle and Gerald is now giving teams enough concerns about slashing that they have to pack in more , making our trifecta lchances better, with predictable results.

The biggest question mark for the Devils is whether the enormous minutes for Iron Man Singler, Gerald and Jon is going to take a toll. No sign of that today. A few well placed timeouts by K just prior to the under 16 and under 12 TV breaks in the second half and the guys were visibly refreshed. There does not seem to be any late-season cumulative fatigue for this squad, but it unfortunately could show up any time, as we know all too well.

and, according to seth davis, the best thing in the world for pitt would be meeting up with duke in the regional final.

Bilas is a riot on ESPN. You'll be happy to know that Duke stands no chance against Texas, Minnesota, or Villanova. No word on Binghamton.

I see where Seth Prettyboy picks Weak to go to the FF and Clemson as a surprise team. Both teams are playing like a dog's breakfast.

Let's see, BC was the #6 seed in the ACCT and is #7 in its regional. I guess that's about right, tho the ACC is tougher than any regional. Seven teams from the ACC, Big Least and Big Ten made the tournament.

Hmmm... very interesting. Few thoughts:

1) I was a little surprised that UNC got the 3rd #1 but after reflection, it makes total sense that they were not the overall #1. And looking at their region as a whole it makes even more sense since it's pretty soft and god forbid they have to work for it. Still, there are a few traps in the making.

2) I was even more surprised that Pitt got the 2nd #1 though. Wow. That was a little surprising but the Mediots love them.

3) Duke's draw was pretty easy to predict once the #1's were revealed; setting them up against Pitt was a no-brainer for me at least and if Duke makes it past them then the NCCA peeps want an all ACC Final Four. Texas being the possible second round draw and Xavier in the S16, also predictable.

Overall I'm pretty happy with our draw. It will be work but if we play good defence, and everyone stays healthy and focused, I think we can continue to shed the ghost of the last few seasons and go further than before.

Congrats on the ACC title - time to go to work boys!

I think the fact that the AACT didn't go thru Wake and UNC will hurt them. It's possible. I think it depends on how much they like Memphis.

Oh - and congrats. You guys are playing well and the brackets broke perfectly (A little luck never hurts).
