2:10. Sorry.

I was able to "find" tickets outside the Phone Booth for the recent ACC-T (2005, right) with no trouble whatsoever. It's a big city and you won't have any difficulty.

If Duke beats Belmont, that game against West Virginia/Arizona is the national game, meaning it's being shown to the entire country, so everyone will see it on CBS. In previous years that game was at noon, but this year they pushed all the Saturday times back a couple of hours, so the national game is ours, at 2:40 or whatever the slated tip is.

Now let's beat Belmont!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks for checking the time, much appreciated.

Assuming none are available at the box office, I think stubhub is a ripoff for tickets, ebay is a little better and craigs list might be a little better. I tend to think your best chance for a good price is outside the stadium from someone that had a no show or something, but you run the risk of not finding any tickets.

I see the Verizon Center's website shows that Duke's second round game would be at 2:10 p.m., so that would seem to be definite. They would seem to be people who would know.

2:10 eastern, is that for sure (if we beat Belmont...knock on wood)?

If we get by Belmont, we play at 2:10 on Saturday.

More minutes for Zoubek, please!

"One game at a time" indeed this season.

Boomer - I beleive that CBS waits to see what the match-ups will be for the second round before deciding who plays when.

As for someone else who also roots for Wisconsin when not cheering for Duke (and until this year that was never an issue), the Badgers did win at Texas. That's a fairly significant OOC win on which to hang your hat.

They also won the regular season and tournament in the Big Ten (admittedly in a down year) and finished 29-4 with losses at Duke, vs. Marquette and both games against Purdue. There's not an embarrassing loss in there. That said, the margin of victory in the Duke game is probably what swerved the tie breaker to the Blue Devils favor.

That said, I do like the draw for both teams in the tournament so hopefully I'll be watching both teams play for quite a few more games.

Everyone is agreed, we got by far the easiest region, but lets not be guilty of hubris here. 2nd round game could definitely be tough and Xavier or Purdue won't be easy. As far as UCLA goes I think that's an exceedingly tough matchup for us with their big man and their ability to guard on the perimeter.

All of the people whining about Wisco should STFU. We destroyed that squad and the big 10 is utter garbage!!! End of story. The Big 10 is like watching the fucking junior varsity.

On that note though, did anyone watched the KU vs. Texas game? I did, and those 2 teams played fantastic. If they play like that they are the #1 and #2 teams in the country. Really, a wonderful game to watch.

Does anyone know what time we would play on Saturday? Is that available yet?

Hi there. I'm a (relatively) long time reader but first time commenter. I've enjoyed reading all of the posts all year and, I just have to say, I couldn't agree more. First two games in DC is a much better advantage than Raleigh. And Phoenix is not really much of an advantage for UCLA in the event of a 1 vs 2 regional final. Plus, Duke's loss to an underrated Clemson team (underrated, that is, when they hit their free throws) has us off the radar, or at least as off the radar as Duke can ever be. I am confident Singler can get his mojo back. Does anyone remember Luol Deng's brickfest against GaTech in Cameron in '04? Singler's recent struggles reminded me of that. Hopefully he'll pull a Deng and use the week to recharge before leading the charge toward San Antonio. I hope Gerald's wrist isn't hurt too badly as well. He seemed to be in some pain during the loss to Clemson. I hope it's no worse than it was.

If Nolan Smith and Taylor King can make significant contributions, I don't think any of our first three opponents can match us. Even if they can't, our front six should be able to provide enough offense to get by. Smith and King have been inconsistent, as freshmen tend to be, but if they can get on an upswing during the tourney, it would be quite an asset to have seven guys with a legitimate shot to score in double figures every single game.

I don't want to jinx anything but this bracket really is a bit of a gift. It's nowhere near a lock since if we continue to shoot poorly we could get beat by anyone, including my alma-matter Arcadia who are barely a DIII team.

That said, the fact that the bottom half is big-men-less, the seedings are a bit soft and few teams have played tough OOC scheds, we should be able to advance. But I agree with Scott - going 1-0 on Friday is all that matters right now.

As for Wisconsin getting the 3, I admit I know very little about them but after watching their game against MSU on Saturday (ick) and knowing how we spanked them in the ACC/B10 challenge, I have to say that (gulp!) the Bristol Powers got it right.

Man, forget Christmas, this is in fact the most wonderful time of the year! I love March!

Yeah, you wouldn't normally think of a conference tournament champion's performance as being "embarrassing," but my goodness. Those games were unwatchable (and this is coming from a guy who generally roots for Wisconsin when they're not playing Duke).

Hopefully Singler rests up this week - maybe limit his involvement in practice or even hold him out for a day or so. IMO, he's the key guy. If he's going well, Duke definitely plays past Easter and possibly into April. If not, things could be dicey (though not at all impossible).

Good comments, folks . . . keep 'em coming. Russ, it definitely was not the worst thing in the world thatg we lost. In fact, looking at the peculiar minute distribution in that game, I'm wondering if someone else might not have agreed with that sentiment.

Josh, I think I set out the reasons for that (Duke over Wisconsin) in Sunday's TD material. The Big Ten was awful, Wisky had no signature OOC wins that were really that impressive, their performance in the B10 tourney was embarrassing, and if anyone needed to flip a coin, there was always that 24-point shellacking Duke laid on them back in November (equivalent to about a 30 to 35-point beatdown of most teams).

As usual, the Selectostiffs igmored the "S-curve" completely, and for once, it benefited Duke and hurt the Tools (on ESPNU's late-night bracket show, Katz said that O'Connor, the chair, wanted the Vols to play in Charlotte, which makes absolutely no sense, but hey). We will have a much better fan draw in Washington than we would in Raleigh.

I'm just very, very happy. The rest is up to the team! Shooting well against Belmont would be a nice start.

clarification...not that we tanked yesterday. but it isnt the worst thing in the world that we lost.

Posted by: Josh Date: 3/16/2008 8:39:18 PM
Wow. This draw exceeded my expectations *big time*. If we can knock some shots down, this could be a fun March. And I'll have a lot of fun this week explaining to everyone here (Milwaukee) why Duke is a #2 to Wisconsin's #3. Apparently Favre's retirement has short-circuited everyone's memory of the colossal beat down earlier this year (not to mention all the other factors in Duke's favor).

man i'm so pumped. my dad told me we were in the west and i got bummed out. but then i saw who was in our bracket and everything is perfect!! we're golden!! YES!!! matt you were right man losing yesterday was the right thing! let's go devils!!

All Duke needs worry about is going 1-0. It doesn't matter who is next, the thing is who is NOW!
